I’ve taken to writing most of my blogs over at CASA.org – the home page of the Contemporary A Cappella Society. Check them out at this link:
If you go to the NBA web site you can vote for the 2009 NBA All-Star Team. Included on the ballot are two players you should totally throw your support behind:
http://www.nba.com/allstar2009/asb/eng/ballot.html?referrer=NBA&code=32ECK4KT
Antonio McDyess, who was traded a few weeks into the season and released by his new team – so he’s not even playing right now; and Stephon Marbury (“Starbury”) who is in a highly public spat with his team, The New York Knicks, and who has not and will not play this season.
The NBA makes up the ballots before the season even starts, since it takes that long to get printed ballots out so fans can vote. They did not know at the beginning of the season that these players would not play. However, many players have switched teams, and while they are of course still listed on their own team on the printed ballots, their team and conference affiliation online has been changed. Why are McDyess and Marbury still listed online?
Since the NBA is being lame and keeping them on the online ballots, let’s do them a solid and VOTE THEM INTO THE ALL-STAR GAME! Who’s with me?
You can vote once a day.
What a stupid easy life I have! I float along for weeks… and months… and years… smacking my computer keys and bellowing into my microphone and mixing with my fancy wigwobbies and turnee doodies and reverbalaybafuzzies…
… and then one day, let’s call it ‘two days ago,’ my OS decides to just not work anymore. Mostly work, sure, but suddenly iTunes and my web browser won’t work. Suddenly I’m paralyzed, immobilized, submissionized by wayward technology. Not only can I not do my job, I can’t check my EMAIL! When I attempt to circumnavigate the problem and use an alternate web browser, I can check email, but the sports highlights on ESPN.com won’t play! MY LIFE IS SO HARD!!!!
Fine, I take it to the apple store, just reinstall the OS and you’ll be fine says they, so I do. iTunes now works!
But lots of other stuff… does not. Run updates, re-install stuff, blah blah blah, 12 hours later, everything works!
But Pro Tools… does not. For the projects I’m working on right now – projects with deadlines, and clients – Pro Tools is pretty much vital. No problem, I’ll just re-install THAT. Up pops the ‘enter authorization code’ screen. Enter authorization code I do. ’You’re not valid’ says the screen.
This happens at 11 pm Friday night. Customer service hours? M-F 8-5. My outlook? Two full days of waiting for them to open so I can call them to plead mercy.
So what do I do instead? I set up a blog.
